Bentley and Polo: True British Heritage
The relationship between man and horse is one that has existed for the last 7,000 years. Out of all the animals, the horse has been the most vital in human evolution, it has lend its speed and its strength to allow humans to move across plains, mountains and forests all around the world to cultivating fields and has even played its a important role in the battlefield. With a sport such as Polo, that power, strength and speed is paramount and is one of the reasons why the sport has survived for so long.
But for the British company Polo is more than just a sport, it gives them a platform to engage with their customers, old and new across Europe in a different fashion. Furthermore, “Bentley and polo share a strong British heritage, which helps explain why the brand’s association with polo has been so successful over the years.” For the Bentley Polo Team 2012 will prove to be a busy year, with the company becoming more involved in a number of European tournaments.
The first of the sponsored events occurred at the High Goal Cup in Düsseldorf from July 6-8, where Bentley’s guest all-star international Polo team marked the occasion by wearing “Dragon Red” Jerseys, the seductive color that was presented to the world in the all-new Continental GT V8 instead of their usual green and white.
But its engagements don’t end there, with Bentley signing up to sponsor several other key European Polo events, which will provide a glamorous and stunning backdrop to display its luxury cars. For the first time, however, Bentley’s involvement will extend to a number of other key events across Europe including Lugano’s “Polo Cup Ascona” (13-15 July), Hamburg’s “German Polo Masters Sylt- Sal. Oppenheim Gold Cup” (27-19 July), Frankfurt’s “Berenberg Trophy” (17-19 August), Gstaad “Polo Gold Cup” (17-19 August), Stuttgart’s 10th “Polo Emotions Cup” (7-9 September) and concluding with Berlin’s “Bucherer Polo Cup” (21-13 September). All the activities are led by Bentley’s local authorized dealer.
According to Gösta Henning, the Head of Marketing Europe Bentley Motors, Polo is “a sport of elegance, power, balance and speed”, indeed these are qualities that are bountiful in their luxurious cars, therefore there it comes at no surprise that the British automaker is finding ways to strengthen its involvement with the sport. Those lucky enough to be at the events will enjoy watching top-class polo, drinking champagne and enjoying a different kind of horsepower on the fields.
