Hyundai’s New Blue Link Mobile Application Makes our Lives Easier
Although owners of Hyundai’s Sonata and Veloster have had some level of remote access for sometime now, the company’s latest version of Blue Link not only offers more features, it is really life changing. The application offers safety, service and infotainment into one package. Blue Link which was redesigned from the ground up not only has a new user experience, faster navigation and new features. Along with remote start, door lock / unlock and control of the horn and lights, you can now run vehicle diagnostics, send POIs across from your phone for later in-dash navigation, and even locate and manage multiple Blue Link-equipped cars.
Blue Link is an innovative telematics solution, the mobile app allows subscribers to remotely access certain features and services with compatible devices. Along with technology found in many other cars, the Blue Link also comes with “Automatic Collision Notification and Assistance” that in the event of an accident and if airbags are deployed, a signal with the location and customer infotainment is transmitted to a response center where a specialists will attempt to establish voice communication and establish a connection with emergency services, if need be.
But apart from “SOS Emergency Assistance” and “Enhanced Roadside assistance”, Blue Link offers many other features and capabilities. For example, Blue Link allows parents to find the location of the vehicle, send alerts when the vehicles leaves a designated boundaries or even exceeds a certain speed, it even goes as far as to block incoming calls and texts. “Geo-Fence” enables the vehicle’s monitoring system based on the configuration on each owner’s website and when the car strays from those predefined setting the customer is notified by email, text message or even an automated phone message. Certain features of Blue Link such as “Geo-Fence”, “Curfew Alert” and “Speed Alert” are part of the second-tier “Essentials Package” which includes further features that enhance remote access, convenience, theft protection, safeguard and vehicle self diagnosis.
The people at Hyundai really thought about it all, for example, what good is a car alarm if you may not be within earshot? With “Alarm Notification”, the customer is notified immediately when and where the vehicle is. On that same token, “Car Finder” allows customers to find their car’s on a map if they are within 1-mile radius of the vehicle, “Car Finder” which is available exclusively via mobile phone app also has the ability to save the location for future reference. The Blue Link will also save you time and money, with “Gas Station Location and Prices” you are given the nearest gas stations ordered by price and provides brand and regular unleaded fuel price, the results are then played back via an automated voice, so you don’t have to take your eyes of the road for a minute.
Blue link is a piece of mind that fits in your pocket and that works with your car. We really don’t know of many other application that are as far-reaching and functional, the best part is that it is now available in every Hyundai and it cost less than its competitor, On-Star. Google Android and Apple iOS users can download the app today from Google Play or Apple iTunes, respectively. A Blackberry version is also in development. With this new updated application it is no wonder that the Korean car maker is on a quest for world domination, winning awards, gaining market share and having their cars fly off lots across the country.
